Accessibility at Libib

Libib is working toward making our website accessible to users who rely on assistive technologies. Below is a summary of the accessibility features currently available.

Keyboard Navigation

  • Skip Links — Press the Tab key to reveal skip links that let you jump to Site Navigation, Page Navigation, Main Content, or your Account Menu. On public pages, a "Skip to main content" link is available.
  • Search Shortcut — Press Alt + / to jump directly to the search field.
  • Modal Dialogs — When a dialog opens, focus moves into it and is trapped within it so you can tab through its controls. Press Escape to close any dialog.

Screen Reader Support

  • Page Structure — Pages use semantic HTML landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) and a logical heading hierarchy to help screen readers present a meaningful page outline.
  • ARIA Labels — Navigation regions, dialog windows, and notification banners include ARIA attributes to convey their purpose and state to assistive technology.
  • Live Announcements — Notifications and status updates (such as character counts) use ARIA live regions so screen readers announce them automatically.
  • Hidden Labels — Where a form control's visual context makes its purpose clear, a screen-reader-only label is provided so it is still announced properly.

Forms

  • Validation — Form validation errors are announced using ARIA live regions.
  • Help Text — Where additional guidance is provided for a form field (such as file format requirements), it is programmatically linked to the input so screen readers announce it alongside the field.
  • Required Fields — Required fields are marked so screen readers announce them as required.

Responsive Design

  • Browser Zoom — The interface adapts to browser zoom levels without loss of content or functionality.
  • No Zoom Lock — We do not restrict pinch-to-zoom or browser zoom on any page.
  • Responsive Layout — The interface adjusts for different screen sizes and devices.

Standards

Libib's accessibility work is guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
